My background, 25 years of training.
"Started out training in the early eighties mainly for fitness and then moved on to body building because I wanted to put on some muscle, at that stage my weight was 60kg.
So after many years of training I got my weight up to 100kg, then thought I would have a go at competing in body building. The first competition I placed first in the novice division which is designed for first timers, and then went to Sydney to the nationals the same year and placed second in the novice. The next year I competed I went to an open division and won the masters and also Mr WA and Mr Australia. In total, I have won two Mr WA and three Mr Australia over the years and am still the current Mr Australia Master."

At 45 years old, is it physiologically possible to firm up as the young ones and does the layer of fat disappear?
A: Keep up and extend the training and do weight bearing exercise training first as this is when you need your energy and then if you can do your cardio afterwards as this will help burn that little extra bit of fat off.
Weight bearing exercise will maintain and increase your metabolism which will help burn the fat, remember not to go to heavy as you do not want to stress the joints, the tendons or the ligaments
As you get older you need weight bearing exercises as it is great for your bone density and muscle conditioning.
Combine this with watching what you are eating.

How do you get rid of the awful baby belly?
A. If you have recently had the baby you have to remember that you still have higher levels of hormones in your body and this may mean that you will have extra fluid on your belly.
The best way to get rid of the baby belly is to do some Cardio exercises either ride a bike, walk, use a treadmill or cross trainer if you have one. Try to make your workout last 30-40 minutes.
Don’t worry about the sit-ups or ab work at this stage.
When you get your strength back the start doing some isolation work for example some ab work

How do you get rid of the Tuck Shop arms?
A: You need to increase the muscle in this area of your arm and the way to do this is by doing some push ups from a kneeling position.
Do isolation movement with dumbells like a Tricep Kick-back or an overhead tricep extension

Which is the best for Fat Loss (body fat reduction) running or walking?
A: Remember there is a difference between weight reduction and body fat reduction
Weight Reduction you will lose muscle as well as fat. So your intention should not be lose the muscle witch is healthy but rather to lose body fat. THIS IS BODY FAT REDUCTION.
Therefore walking Briskly is more effective then running. If you have a heart rate monitor use it
Always remember - to burn fat you need to keep in your "Fat burning - Heart Rate Zone" which is 60-70% percent of your maximum heart rate.
Calculating this is easy with the following formula.
220 minus your age x 65% = heart rate zone .
For example, someone who is 45 years of age is as follows:
220 - 45 = 175
175 x 65% = 114 beats per minute.
This is your “Fat burning zone” which you should try to keep to during your 30 - 40 minute workout.
