Take up our 30 Day Treadmill Challenge and boost your fitness and health in time for summer! We will start off nice and easy with a 1km walk and then build it until your running 5km.
It’s perfect for anyone who wants to start getting fit and toned for summer. Walking or running on a treadmill is great exercise and puts less stress on the body than walking or running outdoors.
The 30 day challenge will help you burn more calories, increase your speed and endurance. There are many other benefits to exercising on a treadmill including;
• Strengthening muscles and bones
• Benefits your heart
• Helps to keep joints flexible
• Counters disease
We recommend running at 8 km /h and adjust the speed if you find it too difficult or easy. A 3-4% incline is a good starting point for the incline runs. Incline runs are difficult but don’t give up as they are a great way to elevate heart rate and calorie burn.
For the best results, make sure to follow our day-to-day guide. Don’t be tempted to skip a rest day to finish the challenge earlier than intended. It is important to let your body recover or you will find yourself fatigued and your performance will drop.
Eating clean and healthy will also help your running performance. These six tips will help you run better and improve your overall health.
Eat seeds or foods made from seeds
Eat five different coloured fruits and vegetables daily
Eat fruit & veg with their skins intact
Eat fish and seafood
Eat meat, poultry, or eggs from free-range or grass-fed animals
It is very important to warm up and stretch before you run. We recommend a brisk five minute walk and dynamic stretching before running. Dynamic stretching incorporates movement and takes your joints through their full range of motion. It is also important to cool down and stretch after a workout. Static stretching is perfect after a run. It can bring your heart rate down, cut your risk of injury and lessen muscle soreness. It’s very important to incorporate stretching into your workouts and if you feel any pain stop stretching immediately.
