At Orbit Fitness, we stock the best rowing machines available including air rowers, water rowers and magnetic rowers. Rowing machines are great for building aerobic fitness and muscular power in both your upper and lower body. Our rowing machines are suitable for home use and in commercial gyms. Most rowing machines in our range can be easily folded for storage, making them great for home use.

Rowing machines are also a low impact exercise machine, making them a great option for rehabilitation or older people needing lower impact exercises.

We are bound to have a rowing machine for sale that will suit your budget, space requirements and training goals. To make it easier to choose the right rower for you, we’ve explained their differences below.

Fluid/Water Rowers

Water rowing machines create resistance via a suspended water tank. When the handle is pulled back, this causes the paddles to spin in the water to create resistance. The harder you pull, the more resistance you will feel.

This means that you can control the intensity of your workout without having to change any settings. Water rowers most closely resemble a real-life rowing experience – which makes them the preferred rowing machine for professional rowers in their offseason.

This type of rowing machine is great If you are wanting to do interval training such as HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training), the water rower allows users to row intensely for one set and then slower in the next, without having to alter any settings.

Air Rower Rowing Machine

Air Rowers get their resistance via a spinning fan flywheel. When the handle is pulled back, the fan will spin and create wind. As you pull harder more wind is generated, creating more resistance. Just like water rowers, air-resistance rowing machines put the user in charge of the intensity of their workout. The harder you pull, the more resistance you get.

Like water rowing machines, air-resistance rowers are great for interval training.

Magnetic Rowers

Magnetic Rowers have magnets built into the flywheel which creates resistance. This type of rower is different from air and water rowers in that the resistance does not increase with your output. Instead, magnetic rowers offer the ability to select your resistance level from an interface. Another benefit of magnetic rowers is that they are a lot quieter than air and water rowers so are great for home use!
